I'm not a Ralsei Fictive but, when this situation happened in Deltarune, I couldn't hold back and I cried. I knew exactly how it felts. I wanted to hug him, I wanted a hug. And I still repress many emotions. So you can see how tf is in many parts of our lives, even when empathizing.
