And yes, the first version of this spell only cost X

Bring your own cards or chaff errata'd to fit the rules of the cube and you very well may get the stamp of (dis?)-approval and a chance to win your very own Prohibition themed coaster!

Keep it on the down low, but if you find me at Bar Cube night, I'll be running games and a Contraband Competition with Prohibition - a bar cube where Blue is BANNED and you'll need to smuggle your contraband if you want to play with the most powerful spells.

It's important to remember how these chuds pretend to act respectable in order to hide their hate under completely reasonable pretenses like "I'm just wearing my silly red hat."

There's a story about a bar owner written by Michael B Tager in 2020 that's worth a read if you haven't seen it before.
Back in 2020, a writer named Michael B. Tager wrote a few tweets about his time at a dive bar in his native Baltimore.

While he was enjoying an after work beer he noticed the bartender booting out a seemingly quiet patron. This patron was wearing a jacket covered in Nazi symbolism.

When Tager asked about why he booted the guy, the bartender, a seasoned pro, said that if you let one Nazi in, slowly they replace the clientele.

“You have to nip it in the bud immediately,” he said, as Trager paraphrased. “These guys come in and it's always a nice, polite one. And you serve them because you don't want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after a while, they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.”

“And then THEY bring friends and the friends bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh *****, this is a Nazi bar now,” he continued. ”And it's too late because they're entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.”

Kitsa only needs 3 power to copy anything so you need to cast a cantrip, time spiral, and have 2 spare mana to copy. Best part is that you can’t shortcut if your opponent can draw into interaction or if you need to draw specific cards 😂

Kitsa + Time Spiral and Ashaya or Minamo :)

Had a friend who moved away visiting this week and we got to play Vistas. I removed all 2 card combos from the cube but he decided to go through the list looking for other combos and managed to 3-0 with this monstrosity. He combo’d 3 different ways during matches. Can you find them all? #mtgcube

Ahh, I see this was the inbred point of the meta where dreadhorde arcanist started to get cut for goyf for the mirror.

Every draft when the cards get boxed and players keep flipping over the piles and look at them to fix it

Maybe a bold choice but p1p1 Tarn

They spoiled the welcome decks which included a bunch of main set cards and some that are welcome deck specific. I imagine they spoiled a bunch for SDCC and we'll have a lull before spoiler season fully starts.

I imagine any deck playing this card wouldn't be primarily trying to win with the above combo loop. It could slot into a Nadu Zenith list since those already play Nantuko or into Cradle Control as a one-of. It's certainly not going to break the format but it's a neat and low commitment combo
aethervjorn.bsky.social
That's what the cradle is for! None of the cards listed here are actually *bad*. Closest to bad is Icetill though Ramunap Excavator has seen play in most zenith decks and I think Icetill is a lot better than Ramunap.

Is this something or am I off the deep end? I guess you could get there with cube using wasteland as well #mtglegacy

On the bright side it means there's now a Bant card you (hopefully) like

Pretty hyped for another Midwest Cube event!

On the website it mentions 9 drafts available with the Cube tournament ticket. How does that work? Is there a third draft on Sunday after the top64 and top8 drafts?

I took Saga and wheeled Crop Rotation (the card I was expecting to come back based on pack 1). I also found a crucible later in the draft. This is where the deck ended up
aethervjorn.bsky.social
We’re having discourse in the cube chat about picking cards over power so I naturally had to bring up this pick I made in vintage cube (slammed the saga and didn’t look back)

It was great meeting you in person after shitposting in the mingo discord for months prior 🫡

2-1 in the top8 with Fires control. I was missing a few ways to deal with artifacts but the deck ended up a lot better than I thought it would after the draft. I even got to board in gempalm against Caleb’s goblin deck 😈
aethervjorn.bsky.social
2-1 in Epic Experiment with Grixis control. Deck was lacking in finishers and understandably lost to domain burn with no way to counter burn spells or close out the game quickly

3-0 in Peasant+ with broken ‘crats cards. Slammed a Gut p1p1 and didn’t look back
