It’s clear that the franchises big selling point is the massive variety of Pokemon that people love just because they’re fun…but VGC just comes across as the complete opposite to the rest of the franchise.

It’s clear that the franchises big selling point is the massive variety of Pokemon that people love just because they’re fun…but VGC just comes across as the complete opposite to the rest of the franchise.
When you consider that the main character of the anime was kid who often just had teams of funny little guy type Pokémon and generally did well at tournaments. Or TCG lets you build teams around favourites even if your favourite isn’t going to be the star of the deck.

As someone who has been a Pokémon fan from the start but never had any interest in VGC (and I’ve tried) - I really think the big issue with VGC is that the game works so much around specific Pokémon being the “META” that unless you happen to love those (perhaps dozen) specific Pokémon it’s just dull

I’m absolutely ready for a proper Star Fox game, loved adventure when I was younger (even if I’d have preferred it as Dino Planet) and Lylat Wars on the N64 was so much fun. Starlink was fun but not the same
I feel like the move to make Star Fox relevant again would be to tie a release to film/TV

…but I’m mature enough to admit when I’m wrong so when it was pointed out that everything official pointed to it being mainline I adjusted my own expectations and definitions rather than trying to force my opinion as facts

My guess is it’s more of an emotional response from people judging the meaning by how they feel about it. That was the case for me when Let’s Go first came out, I assumed it spin off as it didn’t match my criteria for mainline and didn’t see an official source to it being mainline until later.

I’m really curious to see how they handle this game. I feel like it could be a huge game - “cosy” games are often a lot bigger than some people realise, think there’s often a perception of “aimed at casual games so will have no content” - but often there’s an insane amount of things in these games

I’m wondering if the key card release might be in part because they’re planning to trickle release content to the game in the same way Animal Crossing New Horizons did. I always prefer a full game on a cartridge, but looking at the original release of ACNH and I can see my cart is basically a key c

I remember at school discussing Pokémon with a friend who said “Ash’s Pikachu must be level 100 by now” and my response of “the anime doesn’t work the same way as the games” blew his mind. Before that it never occurred to me that anyone would even think they’re both the same thing 🤣

I will accept sensible criticism that SV were probably the messiest Pokemon games at launch in terms of being buggy but most of the criticism is exaggerated and misses that SV are probably the most ambitious Pokemon games in terms of scale too. Best storyline of any Pokémon game too in my opinion.

There were some issues with the final launch but all the ones that got memed about were at the very least from copies that didn’t have the day 1 patch. I played an absolute shit ton of hours and the worst issues I had were a couple of times when the picnic table spawned underground🤣

I also feel the games don’t need actual voice acting but I do think that developing a “Pokemon vocal languages (like Animal Crossing or Sims) would be a good medium to deal with the constant complaint. As the graphics are slowly improving it does start to look more odd with nothing -especially songs

Honestly it’s not for me, but then I generally hate any PvP online function. Played it enough to get Greningite, now forgetting about it until the next one!

I’ve noticed in a Facebook group for a different game that some people are just so incredibly dumb they can’t function without other people doing all the legwork for them.
“How come I don’t have X task on my game?”
“Go to that screen and press the arrow that’s right there.”
“How come I don’t have X task on my game?”

I tried a couple of times (still fairly early in the game as I don’t want to rush through) and the match making seems bad, suspect it’s either totally random or based only on online rank meaning people early game getting matched against those with fully evolved teams 😬

Weird to me that there’s a limited number of codes - UK in store promos that use codes have always printed the code at the till meaning there isn’t a limited number available, just limited time to get them.

Thing is, logically I know that plans are made ahead of time, different departments work on stuff at different times etc, but I did find the DLC announcement made me feel less enthusiastic about the game in general. Made me reconsider my preorder with bonus items from Nintendo-might look for cheaper
