"Oh yeah, that's gay thoughts being beamed directly into my brain. Nothing but gay thoughts"

She didn’t ask for an explanation, didn’t demand a reason.

She just stood there, holding Adagio like something precious returned from the depths.

Her tears slid silently down her face, mixing with the siren’s as the waves of grief ebbed and flowed between them
October 6, 2025 at 12:48 AM
No speeches. No clever lines. Just her chin lowering to rest against Adagio’s hair, her fingers brushing lightly across her back.

"I’ve got you."

She murmured, barely a whisper.

"You’re here. That’s all that matters."

The moment Adagio’s body collapsed against her, Sunset’s arms wrapped around her without hesitation.

Pulling her close despite the ache in her own shoulder. She didn’t care about the pain. She only held on tighter.

When Adagio finally staggered forward, her hands trembling, Sunset moved at the same time arms opening.

Not rushing, not demanding, just waiting. An invitation, not a command.

Sunset didn’t say anything at first. She didn’t flinch, didn’t retreat, didn’t fill the space with noise.

She just stood there, bandaged shoulder rising and falling with each slow breath, eyes soft and wet as she watched the siren break.

- through too much. But she did manage something in the midst of those noises. Four syllables before she turned just to collapse against her shoulders.

The corners of her mouth trembled into a tearful smile.

"You seriously just have the worst timing."

She wiped her eyes, voice shaking but warm.

"But this… this might be the first time I’m actually glad you do."

Sunset’s hand hovered near Adagio’s arm, hesitating, afraid she’d vanish again.

"And now you’re here.”
Her breath hitched, a soft sob catching mid-sentence.

"And I don’t know if I should cry or just hug you"

A trembling step forward.

"I felt you fade. Like something just… stopped existing. And I thought it was my fault."

Her tone broke into a whisper.

"You gave everything because you thought I was gone."

Her voice cracked as she laughed weakly, tears spilling freely now.

"You don’t get it, Adagio. I mourned you."

She pressed a shaking hand to her chest.

"Every night. I kept hearing your voice even when it was gone."

Sunset froze, breath caught somewhere between a gasp and a sob.

"You... you’re really here…"

Her eyes glistened, disbelief flickering with every blink.

"I thought... I thought I’d never see you again."

+
- stopped hearing your melody in my head... I had no idea it was mutual... ❞
