At the Japanese Garden in Portland yesterday: two examples from an amazing exhibition of works by the Kintsugi artist Nakao Fukumaru (hurry, just a couple days left), and two moments from an icy garden stroll.

A cracked ceramic piece renewed using traditional Kintsugi techniques, with broken pieces joined using gold and lacquer, by Nakao Fukumaru at the Portland Japanese Garden. A Roman amphora underwater since some time around 200-400 CE, covered with centuries of sea life. The only flaw in the rim, repaired using traditional Kintsugi techniques by Nakao Fukumaru at the Portland Japanese Garden. Ice covered grasses at the Portland Japanese Garden.
