An explanation for Megumi's color: in my AU canon, MamaGumi is a Samoyed and Toji is a black Doberman (black is a rare color in Dobermans, but I felt that coordinated well with Toji's uncommon abilities). So, in cartoonish logic, Megumi inherited his features from MamaGumi, and his color from Toji!
