Part 1 of interview: In the previous ananweb interview, ONEW openly shared his feelings without holding back. He candidly confessed the struggles that arose from demanding too much perfection from himself and strictly separating his public and private lives, saying, “I think I’m in a transitional period right now.” Meeting ONEW again after three years, he greeted me with “It’s been a while” and showed an even brighter smile than before. When I asked about the changes over the past three years, he calmly replied, “I’ve become able to just be myself as I am.” – I’ve gotten better at properly explaining what I’m thinking and honestly expressing my current emotions. That’s the part that’s changed the most over the past three years. If last time’s interview was still during that transitional period, now I feel like I’ve completely overcome it and taken the next step. Compared to back then, I think I’m doing pretty well right now (laughs). Onew sitting cross-legged on the floor and smiling widely with his eyes closed. Part 2 of interview: In October this year, he’ll return to Japan’s Budokan for the first time since his 2022 solo concert tour debut. His face lit up with a smile as he expressed joy at being able to stand on that stage filled with memories once more. – The first time I stood on the Budokan stage, I was so nervous that my hands were shaking, and I could barely hold the mic. Still, that Japan tour back then was enjoyable. It was also a time for me to learn about Japanese culture, and I was able to create so many memories with the fans. As the tours continued, the stories we could share together grew, and it made me so purely happy that I wanted to share even the smallest things with you all, so I worked hard to converse in Japanese. When I shared what I wanted to say, you all listened... Those kinds of things filled my heart so much that standing on stage gradually became more and more enjoyable. Onew standing with arms spread wide and leaning slightly to his left while looking down at the floor. Part 3 of interview: Last month, he released the mini-album <SAKU> in Japan after 3 years and 3 months. The title is borrowed from the Japanese word for “to bloom,” likening life to a flower as the album’s theme. – Right now, I feel like I’ve been able to bloom once again. The title <SAKU> carries the meaning of “let’s bloom again, no matter how many times.” And it also holds my wish that, somewhere out there, someone might be able to bloom their own flower once more—with my help, if possible. A flower that can bloom again even after withering countless times. From here on, whether it’s a hundred times or a thousand, no matter how many, I’ll keep blooming again. And I want to become an artist who can help someone, somewhere, bloom again too. Even if I wither countless times, I will bloom again. Just finished TONT! Favorite things: the Lee brothers, Lee Rang & Yuri, all the wonderful character actors, and Shownu’s OST. The romance fell a little flat for me, though Jo Boah and LDW both did incredible work; I think the writing just failed them a bit at times
