The way our seas are managed today should reflect the needs & priorities of those who will inherit them tomorrow.

Youth perspectives are essential in policy, yet barriers often limit youth participation. Let’s break them down & foster inclusive decision-making!

Our Youth Advocacy Officer, Dr Elizabeth Mills, wrote a powerful blog with a call to action to marine organisations to put young people and ocean literacy at the heart of marine decision-making.

Check it out 👇
"All young people deserve to be able to connect, learn and be heard in spaces where decisions are made around our seas."

Today we're publishing a new blog from @youth4seas.bsky.social, looking at the concept of "ocean literacy" among young people.

Totally agree. It's time for us to be bold and support calls for bottom-trawling and dredging to be banned in our Marine Protected Areas.
❌"As the iron teeth of the dredger bit into the sea floor & the weighted nets bore down [...] there was an audible reaction from the audience [...] the sheer brutality of bottom-trawl fishing had hit home."

Wrasse are caught & used as cleaner fish in fish farms. Millions of them are being caught & killed after used. These are amazing fish that should surely have some protection. Would we sacrifice wild birds for chicken farms?

🚗💨 The Scottish Government has ditched targets to cut car km by 20% by 2030.

This is yet another climate U-turn, despite transport being Scotland’s top source of emissions.

Lack of leadership = unsafe roads, poor public transport & broken promises.
