For some reason I was just thinking about #lastseen an incredible collection of photographs of Jews being deported from Nazi Germany, led by a team of scholars incl my colleague Wolf Gruner. Soon they will add photos of NS euthanasia deportations.

The annual workshop of the Claims Conference #SaulKagan Fellowship in Advanced Shoah Studies brought early-career scholars together to discuss their projects. It also allowed them to connect with former Fellows, including those currently working at the @ushmm.bsky.social. #HolocaustEducation

Thank you to @selbstzeugnisse.bsky.social for inviting me to participate on the workshop "Narrating the Past" yesterday! In the workshop I spoke about how the interview process of survivors can obscure or highlight the experiences of Jewish child survivors and Latin America as a region of refuge.

It was incredible hearing you speak so eloquently about the importance of including a gendered lens within our research!

Thank you to the @claims-conference.bsky.social for a wonderful workshop and to the @ushmm.bsky.social for hosting us. It's an honor to form part of such a collaborative group of scholars. As a new Saul Kagan fellow, I look forward to presenting my research in next year's workshop.

Puerto Rican service to the U.S. armed forces dates back to the Spanish-American War, after which Puerto Rico & other then-Spanish colonies were ceded to the United States in 1898. They have served in every war the U.S. military has been involved in since then.

Join us in person or online next Wed April 16th for a lecture by research fellow Lauren Ashley Bradford on how women actively engaged in public displays of racial terror and transformed everyday spaces into sites of racial persecution in Nazi Germany and Jim Crow America.
