#Throwback In September 1955, AlexRenew (then the Alexandria Sanitation Authority) was under construction. 70 years later the skyline of Alexandria may look quite a bit different, but we are still working hard to protect public health and our waterways!

🚧 Progress Alert!

We toured the superstructure site for a construction update. This new facility connects the Waterfront Tunnel to AlexRenew's facility. It also houses the coarse screen and pump station designed to accept combined sewage from the Waterfront Tunnel and begin the treatment process.

Starting July 1, 2025, wastewater rates are changing. As part of our newly adopted budget, rates will increase by 5.0% this year and by 5.7% on July 1, 2026. These adjustments support continued investment in critical infrastructure that protects our community and the environment.
