This whole time I thought Jack White was British.

Jack White playing the shittiest sounding guitar for seven nation army every single time I see him play it live is so clutch.

In this week's episode, Alex and Sam dive into a week where sports felt like a simulation glitch: Blue Jays heartbreak, Andy Pages’ unreal catch, and a Grey Cup falling on the 140th anniversary of Louis Riel’s execution.

Narrative, chance, and myth all collide.

The funniest thing ever is that the Toronto Sceptres already won a championship before the Leafs, and they did it while playing out of the old Maple Leaf Gardens building.

You can tell the Leafs are in town cause the lower bowl of the Bell Center is half empty come the third period.

Someone ask Xhekaj how he feels about NATO.

Without a real sparkplug the Leafs are just flat. Even Marner, for all the ways he’s annoying, brings a level of chaos this team is completely missing. Can't miss you if you don't leave eh, Mitchy?

Fire Berube.

This Leafs team is just absolutely characterless without Matthews. It's so over. Canadiens century has just begun.

It's funny how Nick Suzuki is related to David Suzuki.

It's funny how Ron McLean has just become Don Cherry. Senile, out of touch and absolutely insufferable.

Anytime I have to go to Sudbury to go to the bank, or the post office, or Service Ontario, I run into someone from elementary or high school and they're like, 'oh you're back!' ...

Haiti qualifying for the World Cup on the anniversary of its final battle for independence is poetic. From defeating a slave empire in 1803 to returning to the world stage after 50 years, Haitians world wide are reminded that their history is resistance, pride, and brilliance.

The Riders entered the Grey Cup as -3.5 betting favorites. They’re now just the third betting favorite to win in ten years, and only the second to both win and cover the spread.

Saskawatchewan wins.

Machine Gun Kelly is horrendous. How many Canadian artists do we have? You could have a parade of them. Why have this garbage for the Grey Cup? Is this just meant to piss people off? Literally the only explanation.

I will say. At least they acknowledged it on the broadcast and didn't just say he was a hero without mentioning the canadian state executed him literally 140 years to do the day.

He was executed in Regina. So by default he's going for the Al's in this one.
Louis Riel was hanged on Nov 16, 1885, for defending the Métis from the Canadian state. Now, 140 years to the day, the 114th Grey Cup in Winnipeg is co-presented by Indigenous and Métis communities. Canada killed Indigenous resistance, then sells Indigenous inclusion as branding.

Underdogs have won six of the last nine Grey Cups, demonstrating that the oldest championship game in professional football is where regular-season records often go to die.
