"Podcast" comes from the Latin "paudus" (meaning "to half-listen to") and "casteratum" (meaning "while preparing food"). Mine is called "KOHN'S ZONE: Challenging the Conventional Wisdom About Education & Kids." New episodes are posted on the 1st & 15th of each month: www.alfiekohn.org/podcasts/

More to the point: "So you're saying that anything Trump orders is legal just because *he* ordered it?"

This is how I imagine today's NY Times would have covered Kristillnacht
Leavitt on Trump's boat strikes: "You can expect to see those strikes continue"

Afterthought: How many other authors have at some point been tempted to write a follow-up book with that title?

And how many others *should* have written such a book?

Gleaned from an unusually entertaining obit:

1979: Mrs. Terry Martin Hekker publishes an antifeminist book: "Ever Since Adam & Eve: The Satisfactions of Housewifery & Motherhood in the Age of Do-Your-Own-Thing."

1996: Her husband leaves her for a younger woman.

2009: She publishes a second book:

yes, but they're *magic* soybeans

Exactly. Next they'll probably get a woman to play the lead in a biopic of the novelist George Eliot

ICYMI: The Fundamental Attribution Error says we overstate the impact of indiv characteristics (talent, effort, beliefs) & minimize how social context shapes what we do & who we are. So what does that mean for education? Listen to "It's Not About You," the latest episode of Kohn's Zone: is.gd/JiaK2w

Ah, I see where the confusion lies. Mamdani is "antisemitic" in the other usage of the word - viz., "critical of Israel's policy of bombing hospitals and schools"

Credibility restored.

This may be more developmental than political. To reach middle age is to realize that Kafka was a realist.

I don't want to say he's a control freak, but he appeared on a subreddit for a session called "Ask Me One of These Two Things."

Even Northern freakin' Ireland is moving away from religious indoctrination in public schools, finally acknowledging that democracy requires a wall between church and state - while in the U.S., the MAGA GOP blithely tries to drag us backward: tinyurl.com/2jfdwh9j

"Ask your doctor if Zohranos might be right for you"

tl;dr
With Miller, Vought, and the other henchmen, it's ideological.
With Trump, it's psychiatric.
the takeaway from the Zohran Trump meeting is that Trump is a gullible fool who will temporarily bend to the last charismatic person he talked to.

Zohran played him perfectly but that doesn’t mean Trump is good now. He’ll go back to fascism tomorrow morning after he talks to Stephen Miller

Just a reminder, “Epstein” is the name of the sex trafficker.

The president is called “Epstein’s monster.”

Re triumphant proclamations that Trump's approval numbers are now in the high 30s:
1) So almost 2 of every 5 Americans are STILL cheering him on? Horrifying.
2) As Jason Stanley notes, his "regime has decided it has enough of the levers of power that they don’t need to have public support anymore."

Damon focused on the panel discussion with Serious People (including Secretary of State George Shultz) that followed the movie. "They all said we were building nuclear bombs so they wouldn't be used. That is so stupid!"

Freudian slip. Trump and his sycophants believe that any orders he issues are lawful just because he issues them.
REPORTER: “Trump accused the other side of encouraging political violence. Isn't that what he is doing?”

LEAVITT: “Why aren't you talking about what members of congress are doing telling the military not to follow lawful orders?”

REPORTER: “Actually, they said ILLEGAL orders.”

Seems like the best we can hope for at this point is to get the regime's victims exonerated and released, one at a time. Holding the regime's agents accountable appears to be too much to hope for, at least for now. *sigh*

Wow.

There some big Country Joe McDonald energy going on here.
Wow! Jesse Welles performed his song “Join ICE” on the Colbert Show last night. 🏆

Interesting that the ad doesn't specify what constitutes an illegal order or draw any connection to examples of the Trump regime's present (or possible future) conduct.

As a young freelance writer, I sampled reactions to the program among Cambridge, MA residents, including a 13-year-old named Matt Damon.
Tonight in 1983, more than 100 million Americans saw multiple thermonuclear weapons destroy Kansas City, Missouri, in “The Day After” on ABC. A.C. Nielsen Company reported that 62 percent of television sets that night were tuned to the film. I watched in my packed college dorm lounge. How about you?
