I'm trying to (finally) sort fleeces and I swear Torbjörn showers in hay when I'm not looking 😭😭😭
Think I'm going to have to keep this one and buy some wool combs, because I'm not putting that through my carder. It's such a lovely fleece 😭😭😭
A beautiful chocolate brown sheep fleece, with caramel tips to the locks, with very fine bits of hay/seed sprinkled like glitter within it Another shot of the same fleece, with even denser fine bits of hay and seed

I hope you get better soon and don't take too long to recover fully. People just don't understand how badly 'a sniffle' can affect some other people

Feeling the urge to rewatch The Big Short, not sure why.

This is so interesting (and who is more/less likely to refer is unsurprising 👀)

Between Sept 24-March 25 I had *8* separate upper respiratory viruses. 3 of which I should have had steroids for (my asthma nurse was *not* happy with me for toughing it out)

Fucking winter. Please please please prioritise ventilation in crowded spaces. Be the one who opens the window. And if you possibly can, please stay at home if you have 'just a cold'

#UKHSAVirusWatch is back, a summary of our weekly winter surveillance report .🦠🧵
This week's data shows an increase in COVID-19 activity, which is circulating at medium levels. Flu activity has also increased, particularly in those aged 15 to 24, but remains at baseline levels.
Graph showing COVID-19 positive tests rising steadily from spring 2025 after a low in early 2025. Data from October 2024 to October 2025, England only. Graph showing flu-positive tests peaking sharply in winter 2024–25 before declining and then beginning to rise again in autumn 2025. Data from October 2024 to October 2025, England only. (sorry for long brain dump)

Times each year forever. A tiny risk of long COVID with each infection is Russian Roulette.
aliceporter.bsky.social
Worse (I think I had it again in the summer, based on decline since then & my hair now falling out again). It's taken everything in me to still be here after the last 5 years. There doesn't seem to be any demand for improved vaccines, governments have just decided we're all going to get it multiple

How brilliant they are at preventing death & hospitalisation. People who are lucky enough not to have experienced bad/prolonged illness from COVID can be very blasé about it. I'm having to accept my life has been permanently damaged by it, & by every inevitable new infection which makes my arthritis
aliceporter.bsky.social
Definitely under-reported. Long COVID has devastated my life, and I developed a disabling autoimmune disease after my 2nd infection, despite being 'fully vaccinated' (3 doses) at that point. The problem with current vaccines is how little protection they offer against symptomatic infection, despite

Scans of the Scottish fucking maritime museum. Bloody hell. Would be hilarious if it wasn't so horrific.

NEW: Since October 2023, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit has released dozens of 3D animations illustrating alleged Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iranian sites

The style is now unmistakable: satellite zoom-ins, black & white wireframes, and red-textured houses - a new visual language of war

Thank you ❤️
It's not working as well as I'd hoped it would (didn't return to baseline after a bad summer flare, I only started it in May & had about 2 weeks of feeling amazing) so I really don't want it to stop working even more. Plus the risk of anti-drug antibodies 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Fucking hospitals. I am now down to 1 dose of my biologic, and Addenbrooke's STILL haven't sent my repeat prescription to the delivery company (despite 3 prompts from them). Just incredibly stressful trying to get the system to work the way it is supposed to

ME/CFS is a devastating condition that has long been denied, dismissed, psychologised and underdiagnosed. Research is at last starting to catch up with it, with glimmers of hope for those who have been left untreated for so long.
There's a huge BUT coming ...🧵

Research could offer hope for ME patients – but some experts urge caution and say more studies needed

I hope she develops a debilitating illness and isn't believed. I'm sorry you had to experience that, may karma find her.

EVERYONE (ok, some people) who has a cat the ideal weight thinks their cat is too skinny, due to shifting baselines. Same with dogs (and children, frankly)

We’re basically on the edge of an economic black hole, and it’s not clear anything has got the force to pull us clear before it’s too late.

It’s increasingly clear that unless something radical changes the next election won’t deliver a stable/rational government.

Bond markets will notice that, meaning our borrowing costs will steadily rise as the next election gets closer. Which will make life harder for Labour, which in turn…
