Come tomorrow Saturday 1 March, at our largest plant fair yet with 16 specialist nurseries attending: Aberconwy, Edrom Nurseries, Hartside, and Pottertons Nursery – all of which are specialists in alpine plants – along with many others selling a selection of bulbs, woodland and rare plants.

I still need to plant the last of my narcissus bulbs. Let's go back to 1614 and see some of the most coveted European varieties of the day. My eye goes to the little white narcissus moschatus, which unusually likes damp conditions, and which I have not yet grown.
