We have a poppy collection in reception to raise money for the Royal British Legion, if you wish to purchase a poppy after half term.

Earlier in the year we had our Art and Design GCSE/A-Level showcase. This is a chance for families to come in and see the amazing, creative work being produced by the students for their exams. Great work everyone!
Our Y7's have taken part in the Antarctica Day Flag Competition where winning designs are taken to Antarctica by scientists to help raise awareness of the continent’s global importance.

Our Y7 after-school cookery club made Saag Aloo (spiced Potato and Spinach dish). Doesn't it look delicious! Next term cookery club will be open to Y8 students.
Last week we took our second group of GCSE students to Brighton for their compulsory fieldwork visit. This component contributes 30% of the total marks for Paper 3 and the aim of the visit is to investigate both human and physical aspects of Geography in the field.
On Friday lunchtimes we have our 'House Competitions' which are great fun. A couple of weeks ago we had the interhouse Paper Jet Challenge:

Last week we took our first group of GCSE students to Brighton for their compulsory fieldwork visit. This component contributes 30% of the total marks for Paper 3. The aim of the visit is to investigate both human & physical aspects of Geography in the field.
Year 9 Geography class were set a homework task to create their version of 'The Journey To The Centre Of The Earth.' There was a whole class and teacher WOW response when this project entered the room! Well done Arvin and Jacob-great, creative work. 🌍🪐☀️
Look at the delicious goodies our Y7's have been making in after-school cookery club! Bread and Butter Pudding and Sausage Rolls 😋😋
Next term cookery club will be open to Y8 students. Letters will be sent out soon.
Huge congratulations to our Y8 student Mason. W. who passed his 1st Kyu (brown belt with 2 white stripes) in Shotokan Karate. Gradings at this level are intense & his exam lasted 45 minutes! He is now only one away from a black belt. What a brilliant achievement! Well done Mason
Recently some of our Y12 students had a fantastic trip to Reading Uni. They toured the campus, spoke with student ambassadors, and took part in engaging workshops on university life and study skills.
On Friday we held our annual Macmillan coffee morning. Students & staff baked and faked cakes which were enjoyed and I'm pleased to announce that we raised a spectacular amount of £525! All money raised is going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Friday 26th September we are holding a Macmillan bake sale. Students and staff can bake/buy and purchase cakes . All money will go to Macmillan cancer support. Cakes available at break and lunchtime 🍰🧁🥮
On Monday some of our students had a trip to Mini's production plant & Oxford University. They had a tour of a college at Oxford, one of the most prestigious universities in England, & a tour of the state of the art production line at Mini.
On Wednesday our Y7's took part in their first Careers Activity Day. Designed to introduce them to the world of work, business and enterprise. It was a fun, busy, energetic day.

Back in June our Y11 students had their prom at Fredricks Hotel. It's a great way to celebrate the end of exams, and for those going on to other things away from Altwood-a farewell to teachers and fellow students.
We had our Rewards Day at the end of last term & had a fundraising stall-A massive well done to our fantastic students who raised £291 for Thames Hospice. They sold ice cream, drinks, sweets, flags, & offered face painting - all for a brilliant cause.

Here at Altwood, we are passionate about sharing the achievements of our students. We want to give a shout out to Layla.S who attends TDA which is a Dance Academy in Cippenham where she studies Tap, Acro, Commercial & Performing Arts.
