That Pritzker press conference was... surreal, and I think marks a significant moment of escalation in the constitutional omni-crisis. This was the governor of a state saying plainly the Union itself is being torn apart and his state is being militarily invaded by an authoritarian regime.

It’s so ridiculous that there already people trying to “vote blue no matter who” you 3 YEARS BEFORE this hypothetical election

The craziest part is Torres seemingly has no idea that he’s making an ass out of himself here. Like, he thinks he’s doing a good job. Just an absolute ghoul in the face of real humanity.

I got my first one in the mail today and it’s such a goddamn delight. I like holding the full weight of News in my grubby little mitts.

I feel like Pritzker has been fighting harder and better than Newsome for far longer, and has way better politics to boot. Yet he’s getting way less credit.

Of course the corpo media is going to champion the guy who is opposed to universal healthcare.

All respect to Newsome stepping up, tho

For years people said it was a gross exaggeration to label Nazism and its associated viewpoints within the modern conservative movement and especially online. Now Nazis are openly thriving and their rhetoric is impossible to avoid and many of the people who downplayed it are saying nothing at all

Federal agents violently detained a food delivery driver as he emerged from a D.C. coffee shop Saturday morning.

The incident captured on video showed the officers throwing him to the ground and beating him before sweeping him away in an unmarked vehicle. wapo.st/45Egtkc

I don’t understand how the Epstein stuff can be considered a distraction. It’s a pretty big deal that the president is a child rapist. There also happens to be many other horrible things unfolding at the same time. But the vile complicity of the rich is not a distraction. It’s everything.

I appreciate you telling me that, I wasn’t aware

There is only one morally acceptable decision if you’re a national guardsman, and that’s to resign in protest. Those they’re being asked to persecute have families too.

It needs to be said! Like, if any of the Dems who fled Texas actually get arrested, what mechanism can possibly stop it, or undo it? If Nancy Pelosi was sent to El Salvador (as an absurd example) not one person on earth could stop it. They’ve succeeded completely. We’re at war.

MAGA does not care if you’re a liberal, a soc dem, a communist, an anarchist—hell, they don’t care if you’re a Republican.

This is a dictatorship, and everyone who’s awake right now needs to start real world community-building seriously.

They have a military and every institution. We only have us

if i were a pro-trump financial type i might view the destruction of reliable government data with the kind of anger and apprehension that might lead me to reevaluate my politics, but then if i’m a financial guy throwing my weight behind strongman rule, i’m already too stupid to breathe

religion is a significant factor imo. Most Americans are religious, and raised from birth to believe there is no such thing as chance. When things go your way, that’s God. When things are bad, that’s the Devil. When bad things happen to other people, it’s their fault.

Think of how many Catholics stayed Catholic after the Boston Globe reports about a systemic, organized cover-up of widespread p*dophilia.

Not just Catholics. Southern Baptists, Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Zealots are groomed to forgive child r*pists.

Remember that episode of The Office where Michael tried to cover up a rumor by starting a bunch of fake rumors to confuse everyone? But it only worked for like ten minutes because it was easy to trace all the fake stuff back to Michael?

Been thinking about that for no reason in particular

The Epstein coverage shows you that the media can absolutely exert pressure on the powerful. They could cover our corrupt healthcare industry with similar zeal. They simply choose not to.

As a normie, I feel like I’ve been gaslit for years about this. We had to study “originalism” and Roberts and Scalia in my gov class, senior year of high school. These guys clearly just viewed the constitution as the Bible, and themselves as theologians.

He also still, to this day, randomly acts out fictional conversations between people in his speeches. Half of his “anecdotes” sound exactly like the Epstein letter.

Hard to believe our capitalist system, which primarily benefits wealthy sociopaths, could have resulted in a world run by amoral billionaire freaks.
