My family and I had so much fun passing out gifts at the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority (ARHA) AVA MADE Winter Wonderland. This annual event ensures all our kids have gifts and books for the holidays!

That’s a wrap on my first year as Mayor! Proud of the policies we passed - from housing and early childhood to supporting small businesses - and most proud of standing up for our immigrant community. In a world of chaos, Alexandria led with resilience, calm, and compassion.

Yesterday I climbed to the top of our clock tower and then down to the boiler room to see firsthand our aging City Hall infrastructure. Our boilers date back to the early 1900s—and it shows. Learn more about the historic City Hall relocation effort at www.alexandriava.gov...

We just had our last meeting at Council Chambers. I invited former elected officials to reflect on what this room has meant and the policies passed here to improve quality of life. These chambers have been a true reflection of our democracy: a place where we do the people’s work.

On December 5, I was proud to join Campagna Center’s Taste of Scotland—back for its 54th year—celebrating Alexandria’s Scottish heritage while raising critical support for educational programs serving more than 2,000 children and families across our city.

Last Saturday, we held team tryouts as we gear up to bring back the Mayor’s Cup rugby match! I’m excited to share that, in partnership with our sister city of Dundee Scotland, we are going to bring back this tradition in May 2026.

Last night we kicked off the @Novaparks Ice & Lights Winter Skating Party & Ribbon Cutting! Now in its 7th season, this beloved tradition has welcomed more than 140,000 visitors since 2019. Come skate, play games and sip coco all winter long!

At today’s Mayoral Youth Forum, we heard from School Board member @ChrisHarrisACPS on the role of the school board and how students can make their voices heard. Students shared ideas on everything from recycling to arts and cultural studies to substance abuse to transportation.
