Jalen Ramsey was a full participant in today’s practice and is officially questionable for Sunday’s game against the Browns.

Calvin Austin III is out.

No injury designations for anyone else, so Highsmith, Warren & Joey Porter Jr all set to play.

And here’s Kade Bell talking about getting enough reps for each QB during spring camp this year.

Getting QBs reps was a priority of his after dealing with a large QB room during spring ball in 2024.

I asked Pat Narduzzi yesterday why the coaching staff was confident enough to have Mason Heintschel start at QB without extra prep time or easing him into playing time, like they did with Kenny Pickett in 2017.

Narduzzi said it was as simple as getting enough reps for all three QBs in practice.

Last Decemeber, Mason Heintschel was wearing an earpiece on the Pitt sideline during the GameAbove Sports Bowl. Listening to Kade Bell's play calls made his head spin.

10 months later, he made his first collegiate start and led Pitt to a 48-7 win over Boston College.

Yes, Neal played DE against Boston College and Narduzzi said the move could be long-term. He said Neal is athletic enough to play on the edge.

Zach Crothers, Blaine Spires, Joey Zelinsky, & Jaeden Moore are all listed as OUT. Going to be tough to contain Tommy Castellanos with few healthy DEs.

LT Jeff Persi also OUT. Desmond Reid & Cruce Brookins are questionable.

Apologies that the “Mason has an energy to him” part is cut off; BlueSky limits videos to 60 seconds and Sanders’ full remarks on Heintschel were about 75 seconds long…had to trim somewhere.

Pitt safeties coach/assistant head coach Cory Sanders on freshman QB Mason Heintschel:

“Mason has an energy to him…that ability to be a difference-maker, as a person and as a leader, I think that’s what separates Mason just from people in general. I’m a big fan of Mason.”

Tomlin says he thinks Browns' rookie TE Harold Fannin Jr. only lasted as long as he did in the draft because he played in the MAC but said Fannin was not out of place against Power 5 competition in college.
