Had so much fun winning the West last night I went back and relived the other three times the Mariners have won the American League West Division Championship. It's a brief history, but a fun history!

I also love this picture so much, there was no question which one would be the main photo!
A Brief History of How the West Was Won
From 19 long years of frustration to a 24-year drought, a celebration of Seattle Mariners division championships.

We are already planning on 4 desserts, but I just ran across a recipe for a pumpkin spice latte pie that looks incredible, and I think there may be room for one more?

The pumpkin ice cream has been churned and is freezing as we speak! I’ve been stressing about this for weeks! So fingers crossed it’s okay. I do think it’ll be better than my first attempt, but I’m concerned it might be too pumpkiny. We’ll see after it freezes.

If we’re going have discourse about apple pie, it should be about the necessity of cooking the apples BEFORE you put them in the pie.

Let the games begin!

I’m not addressing the rest of this, but now I have a vision of setting out the dessert spread, turning down the lights, clearing my throat, and announcing that in honor of this most family-est of holidays I will be reading “Daddy” by Sylvia Plath.
This is so soulless, I can't stand it. We have BRAINS. We can USE THEM.

Kinda enjoying that this week Monday is Monday and Tuesday is Friday.

It’s really dumb that you’re supposed to wash your sheets every week because it’s the worst, most tedious chore and I don’t like it. I’m motivated purely by not wanting to be gross, but sometimes I consider being gross because changing sheets sucks so bad. But I do it anyway.

All these videos I keep seeing of people making rolls and bread into the shape of turkeys, it gives me the ick. I don’t want turkey-shaped bread please.

Today I am thankful for the spreadsheets I have made over the last few years that are making Thanksgiving prep easy peasy despite my lack of excitement and executive functioning. I make a lot of spreadsheets to help my brain. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I'm very happy this is working!

And now to brave the world and go Thanksgiving shopping, whether I want to or not. And I don’t. But it must be done.
November 24, 2025 at 4:25 PM
Every year many people express their hatred for Thanksgiving food, and I’m telling you, the solution is to simply make food that tastes good.

One of the things that makes me think I might be doing kinda okay at this parenting thing is coming downstairs in the morning and finding both kids engrossed in reading a book ♥️

Even the kid who don’t care much for reading has gotten really into this year and it’s so delightful to see.

I have read too many old newspapers today, but I can't stop!

Hold on. The players had to answer the phone in the clubhouse?!

How can you not be romantic about baseball?
November 23, 2025 at 10:13 PM
The origin story of Lou Piniella not liking pitchers 😂

I now have a vision of Jay Buhner tucking in baby Alex Rodriguez, both wearing their full uniforms, of course. Adorbs. Should have been a Mariners commercial.

Sure. This seems totally normally. Nothing to see here. Draft a guy, correspond via fax machines. It's the 90s! Technology!

Pitchers were built different in the 90s, but also, Randy Johnson was built different in any decade. NBD, just a couple 140 pitch outings with a 34 pitch relief appearance in between. The modern baseball mind cannot comprehend this 😂

I'd somehow never noticed this in Lou Piniella's biography before, but this made me laugh. Perfect Lou content.

Well, I'd been toying with the idea of writing about Alex Rodriguez signing with the Rangers for its 25th anniversary, and I regret to say I've been sucked down into this hole. So now I have no choice. Thoughts and prayers for me.
November 23, 2025 at 2:38 AM
And there we are again when nobody had to know,
You kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath,
Sacred prayer and we'd swear
To remember it all too well
November 23, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Alex Rodriguez signed with Texas on December 11, 2000. The next day, the Supreme Court decided Bush v. Gore. I distinctly remember each of these events, but somehow it doesn't feel like they happened back-to-back.

Sometimes I like to flip through old newspaper and go down weird rabbit holes, and here's one. This was a 6-day contest to see if men could eventually run further than horses because people were obsessed with the idea. Spoiler: Pinafore won by going 557 miles.

I love olden times medical advice. Soak your feet in powdered mustard to draw the blood from your head. Sure!

I shouldn't joke though because people are actually promoting this stuff on the internet in modern times. Le sigh.
