We hope Darren appreciated it.

We thought they were parasols?
Worrying, as we've eaten them in the past...

Now, come on. We all know it's Cartimandua. 😜😂

Apparently, it's also National Hug-a-Kevin Day, so any Kevins will have a real boost.
We just need to go and find one...

It very obviously is not behind.
It's underneath.

Upkeep on the rail tracks.
For once without a mix of management watching 😜

Fabulous photo.
Are we the only ones who can see orange-like segments there?

Two of our favourite animals!

Spent too long in the water.

Searching for that last Malteaser.
Obviously.

So rare it's still waiting to be found.

Strange, isn't it. It often seems to us that archaeological items made from 'precious' materials are much less interesting that finds of everyday objects it terms of what we can learn.
Perhaps it's time for treasure to be redefined in terms of what we can learn.

This is Ada Lovelace, daughter of Lord Byron and considered to be the first person to write a computer programme which was for Babbage's Analytical Machine. She died in 1842
In her honour, today is Ada Lovelace Day and is all about encouraging women and girls in mathematics, science and engineering.

We like that you weren't afraid to put your theory to the test.
Nothing like a bit of practical experimentation.

Today is World Octopus Day. Another occasion when it's difficult for an industrial museum to be relevant.
However, we have our cogilicious Steampunk Weekend this Saturday and Sunday, 11th & 12th October and this picture is from our last Steampunk event.

Today is Global James Bond Day!
Here is 'Roger Moore' looking very dashing on a Zorin locomotive at the entrance to Main Strike Mine. Which is here at Amberley.
Amberley Museum was used as the location of Main Strike Mine for the 1985 film 'A View to a Kill'.

Amberley is such a lovely place to be but it can change after dark.
If you want to experience the chills and frights of the Museum at night, try our Halloween Evening on Saturday 1st November... if you dare!

Although the transistor was invented in 1947, it wasn't patented until this day in 1950 by three American physicists - Shockley, Bardeen and Brattain.
This led to the three scientists being awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1956.
Radio Caroline would never have existed without them...

This may also describe various Universities.
Campuses (campi?) full of capers? Do you still have Rag Week?
amberleymuseum.bsky.social
Surely that would be 100 Playmobil miles and therefore about 20 feet?
amberleymuseum.bsky.social
If a seahorse is a hippocampus, does that make this a capercampus?

Caspar David! One of our favourites!
