Is the goal to eventually extract DNA from them? If so, and if it’s a possibility, I’d suggest shipping DNA. Else I am not of much help 😅

We love to fetishize "top" researchers and give them special big pots of money. But we get far more science by spreading money among all researchers (closer to the NSERC DG model). This old post is magically relevant again... scientistseessquirrel.wordpress.com/2015/05/12/w...

Great initiative! It may be too late, but I feel it would have been nice to include someone from a small institution, including primarily undergraduate institution, as the landscape and overall experience may differ significantly from U15 and comparable institutions.

A while back (maybe 3-4 years?) there was a paper on common misconceptions of the genetics of various traits. One of them was eye colour in humans. I have lost this reference and can't find it anywhere. Does anyone recognise what I mean?

Massive investment in science in the upcoming Canadian budget would send a strong message that rationality and reason should lead the world, not charlatanism. People will return to science-based policies and health measures, and countries that have not given up will have a strong economic lead!

We still use usats for small numbers of fishies 🐠 I admit they don’t scale up very well but are excellent training for undergrads 🤓
Depending on the species, there might be decent SNP-based panels out there (KASP style) 😊
