We’re proud that our #RestoreNature campaign won the 2025 SER Europe Communications Award, proof of what we can achieve together. But here in Malta, proposed planning Bills 143 & 144 risk undoing vital safeguards for nature & democracy. Let’s turn Europe’s Nature Restoration Law into action at home.

🎉We are delighted to announce we won the 2025 Communications Award from the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) Europe, recognising the power of our #RestoreNature campaign.

Don’t let the EU tear down nature protection ❌

The European Commission is quietly trying to dismantle the laws that safeguard what we cherish most: our nature.

They think we wouldn’t notice or care. But we do.

#Science, not spin, should guide #conservation – the FKNK index is misleading and dangerous for our wild birds.
birdlifemalta.bsky.social
🚨 The FKNK “Sustainability Index” is bogus! Spring hunting isn’t sustainable: fewer than 8% of hunters declare catches. This unscientific tool hides EU warnings & illegal practices. Real conservation = science, not lobbying.

Malta’s environment faces an unprecedented threat. We oppose the Government’s amnesty for development illegalities – even in ODZ & heritage areas – which will erase safeguards, silence the public & reward destruction. These proposals must be withdrawn. Read more: birdlifemalta.org/2025/08/ruin...

Despite a wide diet, a few pelagic fish species stood out.

Protection of spawning areas and selective fishing are needed for shearwaters and fisheries to co-exist in the region.
