I’m creating a pregnancy after loss training module as a freelance trainer. Please help inform my work by taking this survey. For people who have experienced pregnancy after loss, dads, other parents & family. I also have a question specifically for Black & Brown families: forms.gle/4Rpno97aSv1D...

It’s our mouse nativity!

I started end of October - crocheted 25 mice including the nativity scene mice - one for the kids to find each day. It was a challenge at times but so glad I did it! 🐭🎄

This is my last baby and so the emotions of her turning 1 are so real! There will always be something so special to me about that time when you go into labour though - and although it won’t be me again, I hope to support others through this time of transition.

My baby turns 1 tomorrow and this was me 1 year ago before induction at 35+2 due to severe Cholestasis. I keep saying I’m not ready for her to turn 1 and what I mean is what we all went through was such a big deal to us that I’m not ready to close that chapter! ❤️

My area of work is in pregnancy after loss mainly & I know I can’t fix the vast amount of problems for migrant families accessing maternity care, but it will be a consideration for me to think how can the charity I run do our bit.

Spent a long time last night reading this report in full and reading more about migrant families and maternity care. One situation that struck me was a previous stillbirth that was not followed up in subsequent pregnancy - & the woman went onto have another stillbirth. Opportunities missed. So sad.

I’ve been involved in a few research studies over the years and many do not have the funding available to book interpreters - missing out on key information and missing out on hearing from important voices. For those who don’t speak English, the gaps are so wide.
This is just awful. Just 4% of mother and baby pairs received care rated as good. 68% received poor care that could have impacted the outcome. So many babies lost and so much more could have been done.
The latest #MBRRACE perinatal confidential enquiry into the care of recent migrant women with language barriers who have experienced a stillbirth or neonatal death is released today - 50% of their care contacts took place without any interpreter https://buff.ly/2HR30eT

When your cycle restarts after having a baby and just ALL the emotions. It feels like my body’s officially gone ‘right you’re back to pre-pregnancy now, as you were.’ I’m not the same person I was…Each baby has changed me. For me it’s not ‘as you were’ it’s ‘this is a new start’ in so many ways.

I read this very interesting paper this morning. I also wonder about the relationship between pregnancy after loss & place of birth & if this added in with ethnicity also has an impact.

The relationship between ethnicity and place of birth in England: a mixed-methods study - BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth
Background UK maternity policy advocates a choice of birthplace in an obstetric-led unit (OU), a midwife-led unit (MLU) or at home. Although robust evidence supports the safety of birth in midwife-led...
