The cab car is only a place where the engineer can drive. There's no engine. The rest of that car holds baggage and our 10 bicycle racks. This configuration keeps us from having to take the time to turn the train around which can cause problems with the schedule. Only locomotives have engines. Good?

We typically run a locomotive on the north end of the train and a cab car on the other end. Our locomotives can push and pull. The train can be driven from the cab car when the locomotive is pushing. This allows operation in both directions without having to turn the train around (saves time).

Thank you very much! Evergeen, Mocha, and Cream for the win with a little bit of Gold Nugget accent. 💚🤎🤍

We had one! We even created special ads to try to encourage riders to hit up those trains. But, that said, it's not like our marketing budget is huge. There are plans to grow the service so maybe we'll get some early morning trains again sometime.

The Coast Starlight is the Seattle to LA train and I think it's had the same schedule forever so I doubt that would change. Perhaps @amtrak.com can provide more insight?

Four is a nice number but it's hard to pay for train operations with no ticket revenue; not to get all mathy on your or anything.

It's a good question. When we added more trains, we had an early morning train to Portland and an early morning train to Seattle because we had heard people wanted early trains. The problem: three people rode. The solution: six months in, we made the departure times later and ridership increased.

Good catch! It had a stopover in Denver on its way to the test tracks in Pueblo, Colorado.

We're getting the first 8 trains! Amtrak will be getting 75 more trains as part of this order.

I translated that one in my head. lol. I'm with WSDOT (and I'm the person who manages this account) so I only know about Amtrak Cascades. You could certainly ask that on Amtrak's social media accounts. I'm sure they'd be happy to answer that question for you.

Nope. No sleepers. These are not overnight trains. These are daytime trains. Well, early, noon, and night, as we like to say. First train out at 6:45 a.m. and the last train in is at 10:50 p.m.
