Some folks are already getting DACs operating at lower cost.

Isn't this the antithesis of "The American Dream"?

Was it all a con job, a story Americans have been telling themselves for the past 100 years?

Like British Monarchy and Tradition.

I once asked my English friend about income distribution in the UK. The answer isn't much different from Mexico or the USA: the dominant class gets most of the money. But the system is stable and people cherish that stability, even if screwed.

If we do choose to end fossil fuel production to fight climate change, climate change will choose for us.

Who is Communist anymore?
ChatGPT: China, Cuba, Laos, North Korea, Vietnam.

That leaves a lot of room for potential culprits.

I don't agree that carbon capture is solely intended to extend FF production, save in the minds of oil profiteers. Does this mean that my views, or those of Yama's Aurélie Gonzalez, will be automatically dismissed or viewed with suspicion?
November 22, 2025 at 6:43 PM
Is it "hardcore activism" to demand a transition away from FFs, or are petrostates the extremist ones by insisting that FF production and climate change can be decoupled?
November 22, 2025 at 6:21 PM
I think it's best to admit that COP has always been undermined by petrostates and that they abused the process out of self-interest. I'd rather see a breakout group affirming the need to phase out fossil fuels - out of sanity - and identify those opposed so they can feel our scorn (Canada included).
November 22, 2025 at 4:01 AM
What's the difference between a COP with no outcome and a grievously compromised one? At least, a failed COP would reveal the charade by petrostates that they really care about a just outcome.

Trump's economy is being held up by a massive AI bubble.

A recent study found that of 300 companies that owned generative AI tools, 95% reported zero return on their investments.

We will not entertain a bailout of these companies should this bubble pop.

"Make your money now and don't worry about tomorrow" doesn't work for climate change.

When I lived on the Sunshine Coast of BC, we had summertime water restrictions. It didn't take long for people to change their ways, e.g., water lawns on prescribed days.

Just look at changes in seawater pH or global average surface temperature since ~1980. They are both predictable changes associated with increasing atmospheric CO2.

I skipped over an important conference in NY because of the arbitrary application of the law in the USA. I have been critical of President Trump, have rejected firmly his proposal to abrogate our sovereignty, and feel justified in worrying about being detained at the border.

Remembrance Day is one of the few public events that is well attended and most revered by Canadians, in large or small communities alike.
