Friends, it is once again that time of the year when I ask for your help in traveling to a DNC Meeting. From December 11th - 13th, the DNC will convene in Los Angeles! And I can tell you one thing for sure that is going to be top of mind for me - the 2028 Presidential Primary Calendar. 1/
It is true that there was a panel discussion on RCV over breakfast before the last DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee (RBC) meeting. But the big obstacle is not party rules, it’s state laws - most of our primaries are run by states, and most states do not use RCV. bsky.app/profile/andr...
I was at this breakfast and meeting and am the biggest RCV guy you’ll meet, but I don’t want people to get their hopes up about this being in place nationally for 2028.

It’s ultimately a state legislative issue, not a party rules one. Most of our primaries are run by states, and most states don’t use RCV. I would be one of the easy yes votes on committee, but that’s not the big obstacle unfortunately.

This shutdown is the first time in the entire Trump administration that I have felt @democrats.senate.gov and @schumer.senate.gov rose to the occasion and met the moment we’re in. Folding now and giving up healthcare for millions when we just won a blue wave election is appalling malpractice.
Any “deal” that ends with Dems just getting a pinky promise in return is a mistake.
The American people are suffering because Republicans refuse to stop healthcare costs from skyrocketing. An agreement that doesn’t fix that reality falls massively short.

It feels to me like #atxcouncil did not have the political capital needed to marshal progressives after burning so much of it to pass the police contract that did a lot to put us into this budget mess in the first place. And thanks to the #txlege, now everything will see cuts EXCEPT for APD.
