Hello new followers! Just a PSA that while I often forget about this account for months on end I do update my Letterboxd page almost every day where I write a few hundred words about every film I watch. If that sounds at all appealing consider giving a follow over there.

And to be clear I don't love the idea of electing someone my mom's age to be a freshman senator and think bringing new blood into politics is a worthy objective. But at least we know her positions which by & large are good!

This is such style over substance horseshit all for a race a year out!
And Fetterman at least had won state-wide before. He was a known entity to a certain extent. We didn't know anything about Platner 2 months ago other than he used DSA talking points and looked like he could throw back a boilermaker. But he was elevated solely because he's not 77 yo Janet Mills.
We went through this w/ Fetterman who "looked the part" by not looking the part and said all the right things as part of the resistance but also had all kinds of warning signs (including some racial stuff) that were ignored. And now we're stuck w/ someone who's primarily concerned w/ trolling Libs.
The left is so desperate to grow in a lab this idealized, "can hang w/ Joe Rogan but also thinks trans people & immigrants should be treated w/ respect" candidate that they're assuming Planter's "evolved" positions now reflect who he really is as opposed to him being super susceptible to influence.
What I find confusing about the PSA guys trying to save Platner is it's not like there's a vast body of work as a local legislator behind him. It's not as though being a reddit troll & possible Nazi are being weighed against a lifetime of public service. He's a dude who made a campaign launch video.
The nimrod below wearing neon pink goggles went on a temper tantrum that anyone who can't appreciate that Guadagnino actually shot AFTER THE HUNT in New Haven, CT and on the Yale campus is not a "thoughtful, deep-soul thinker."

(The film was shot entirely in London and Cambridge University)
This revenue waterfall is for the new TRON which is not apples and apples with ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER (one is franchise IP the other an R-rated drama, etc) but it's instructive to reference when people talk about how "unprofitable" OBAA is (it cost $90M less than TRON and is sitting at ≈160M WW).
Ah, I figured they put the other actors on apple boxes/wore lifts to appear taller but that's clever.
Update: also applies to Tennessee.
This New England game has reached the "this is such a beatdown it's actually quite dull to watch" stage. The Pats are back (provided they get to play Carolina every week)!
I know I initially assumed there was some kind of digital chicanery but it was basically just smart blocking and Hawke adjusting his posture no?
I've heard it said this is just for '25 Oscar consideration (which I think they recognize is a real long shot but is likely contractual) & they plan on giving it a "real" release in early '26. Feels like a lower priority for them in light of their slate but it's too early to say it's being dumped.
Screamed at me by a homeless person on the train today or addressed to reporters by one of the stars of TV's "Prison Break?" You decide!
Trump’s entire worldview in a sentence. The only people who belong in jail are people who don’t support his political agenda.
Say what you will about Europe but I’ve been here almost 2 weeks and I’ve yet to see a single Cybertruck. So it’s got that over stupid America.
Journalist famously duped by Joe Paterno and Lance Armstrong is certain *this* charlatan is for real this time.
Apparently Helen Lovejoy is overseeing moderation on this app.
I dunno. This guy might live in Florence, Italy but I think he might be Irish.
Only a few hours away from Panahi firing a t-shirt gun at the crowd!
I'm reminded of the possibly apocryphal story of Fred Zinnemann, late in his career, taking a meeting with a newly installed studio executive and being asked what work he'd done up to this point and replying "you first."
The 6pm window on the 23rd is brutal. You also have SOUND OF FALLING at that time. Helps that a rip of the Dardennes is around.
I continue to be bummed that Bill Burr is playing the Riyadh Comedy Festival. Most of the lineup is the expected bunch of garbage human beings, hacks & prostitutes but Burr has spoken out about human rights in the past. I believe he fundamentally understands why it's wrong. Somehow that's worse.
They seem to play the one for the "chainsaw demon" one twice in immediate succession? I can't recall seeing anything like that before (the tone of the 2 spots are so wildly different I actually had the thought "is it possible there's more than 1 'chainsaw demon' anime movie coming out?")
