A leaked Russian document provides a baseline for Russian losses between 1 January and 1 September this year. According to the document, Russian forces suffered 281,550 casualties in those 245 days:

86,744 killed in action
33,996 missing in action
158,529 wounded in action
2,311 captured

Russia now may be losing 50,000 troops a month — and Putin has no easy options

Equally important is not allowing Putin any avenue to think we are weak in our resolve. Even considering leaving NATO will give him something to attack, to issue misinformation and sow mistrust.

Exploring and testing a hypothesis requires we go to those uncomfortable places and in a time of Putin I agree; NATO is not the only answer but it is part of the answer. The nuclear deterrent is another part; supporting Ukraine; sanctions; data integrity; fact checking; etc.

Do you apply the same logic to the ECHR? The world has changed, ECHR membership is fundamentally different to the founding so we cannot consider belonging to it?
