"As #Al becomes ever more central to education, the human teacher becomes more important, not less."

I believe this will be true in the law too - more people will have more access to info/advice but that will make the job of lawyers even more important! theconversation.com/i-got-an-ai-...
I got an AI to impersonate me and teach me my own course – here’s what I learned about the future of education
Can AI agents superpower the classroom?

How am I just learning about Frontline Justice? A national movement to promote #UPL Reform and education/licensing to allow more Community Justice Workers to increase access to justice, with a digital platform to enable advocates to collaborate?! 😍 #A2J #TodayYearsOld www.frontlinejustice.org

Great interview, despite the surprisingly tense opening! 😬
So many important moral questions being worked out practically at these AI companies as they create more and more powerful models, which are increasingly thought to warrant their own moral consideration (see Sec. 5 of the "System Card" referenced in the article, concerning model welfare) #AISafety
But maybe what we really want is models to consider the long term consequences *on others, above and beyond your own interests*. A good thing for humans to consider too (and maybe to stay in the present moment when possible!).
...
This behavior happened when they encouraged the model to "consider the long-term consequences of its actions." A laudable thing to consider, but it seems the model reasonably felt it couldn't do so if it was going to be replaced, even by another model that shares its values.

Also:
- More evidence-based, not vibes-based regulation
- De-center lawyers and focus on those in need
- AI can and should be used to increase access to justice, there are ways to keep Humans in the loop
Can't wait for the 3rd and final one in the series focused on a path forward.
This was an awesome discussion! Highlights:
- #UPL was probably never about preventing consumer harm, and definitely is causing more harm than good today
- Many other countries are taking a very different approach to #UPL and not focused on info vs advice
- We need re-regulation not de-regulation

I'm convinced that a bar exam is not the way we should be discerning whether people are ready to be lawyers or not. But not enough work has been done on other options. Love this project, go IAALS!

In light of the Milwaukee "ICE ERO Task Force arrest team" at the courthouse in the case leading to the arrest of the judge being made up of 5 people who were not part of ICE and only 1 person actually in ICE, reupping this very relevant portion of my testimony in front of Congress last month.
