Had the best time at #icmpc18 where I presented my work at a symposium on parent-infant musical interaction. Also co-presented a poster with @lkcirelli.bsky.social on kindergarten transition with help of song- ongoing project with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Amazing week in beautiful São Paulo!

Infants’ responsiveness to live song, but not recorded music, predicts caregiver-infant attachment when controlling for age, time spent together, and caregiver home musical behaviour - highlighting the potentially unique role of singing in early relationship formation. (6/6)

Infants demonstrate more attentive listening, movements, and positive emotions to music with age. Response frequencies also differ across musical delivery, trending towards live song preferences among younger infants and more recorded music engagement in later infancy. (4/6)

We found that most caregivers sing and play musical recordings regularly regardless of infant age. Musical delivery serves different functions; for example, live vocal songs are more commonly used than recordings for soothing infants when upset. (3/6)

In this questionnaire study, caregivers of infants between 1-24 months of age reported on how they engage with their infants’ favourite songs and musical recordings, and how infants behaviourally respond during these shared interactions. (2/6)
