2) I think furry cons benefit immensely from having dedicated 18+ spaces where adult vendors and artists can display their work without worrying about kids wandering over. Nerdy stuff has become a family activity which is good, but adult work deserves a (designated) place

1) the best furry cons have lots of hangout space in addition to dealer/alley and panel space. It’s great to have somewhere to sit and decompress. Having somewhere for friends to sit and chat helps keep huge convo groups out of the dealers rows.

Was at a comic/zine expo today and it really hammered home for me a bunch of things I really appreciate about furry cons that I miss when I go to other nerdy events. I think it’s cool that we do get some stuff especially right.

Yeah I find having too many choices creates a weird paralysis and I just end up scrolling for stuff to watch. With crunchy I read reviews each season and put stuff on the watch list that seems interesting (which then gets shaved down over the season depending on how much is bad/boring)

It’s definitely on my to do list to get a Blu-ray player for the region I actually live in. There’s actually a lot of stores here that sell physical media still and it’s tempting.

Unfortunately I'm old enough that I used to have to buy 30 dollar VHS tapes of like 3 or 4 episodes to watch anything so the shine hasn't worn off for me

As someone who has to deal w/ piracy of my own work and how demoralizing it is my rule is that if I want to see/watch/listen to/play something badly enough I should pay for it. AFAIK the main issues they've had w/ AI subtitles was thru a subcontractor but it's a thing I'm keeping my eye on.

Yeah I've seen this line of reasoning but all media is still competing for the same slice of people's time. I know people consume a lot of low effort stuff already but they tend to do that in places where it's free (TikTok). If legacy media gets just as lazy and dumb it has no monetization strategy

At this point me and Abe have cancelled every streaming service except crunchyroll. We rent a movie probably every couple of weeks and go to the movie theater maybe once a month (if a good movie comes out). IDK how studios expect people to have time for infinitely generated slop.

It sounds like you've made awesome progress w/ your workout regimen, which rules. I can't do big exercise this week but I'm hoping next week I can get back to it.
