A space to express my love of animation.

I started this show due to some recommendations and I am very happy I did. Truthfully after the first few episodes I thought it was a fine entertaining distraction. Little did I know that the show was easing me into it. It starts out as an office sitcom with a little drama, …

Celebrating Masaaki Yuasa coming out of "retirement". The stunning amount of animation makes sense when paired with his singular experimentation and energy. I'll rank them according to my preference, but a lot of it comes down to taste when viewing so much great work...

Now that Zootopia 2 is such a big hit can we stop the “woke is broke” B.S? It’s literally about apartheid.

60 episodes of TV that shaped my love of animation. My 27th choice is Mushi Shi. I actually think Mushi shi may be one of top ten shows ever. It's so unique and the stories are relaxing and gorgeous. Sublime is equal mixtures of beauty and horror and that is Mushi shi...

60 episodes of tv that shaped my love of animation. Samurai Champloo (2005) is a mix up of samurai and hip hop. I find it less consistent than Cowboy Bebop, but it's heights are stunning. The three part conclusion "Evanescent Encounter"(e 24 to 26) is epic and everything you would wish for.

Every weekend I post a free animation available on YouTube. This week it’s the 1987 Sci fi anime Black Magic M 66. It’s the most 1987 thing you will see. A terminator / Rambo inspired cheese fest. Warning if kids around; There is some fan service nudity near the beginning. youtu.be/NtlgMgConMw

Fresh thoughts on Zootopia 2, but right now it’s just great to see such a solid sequel that is so effortlessly entertaining and moves the characters along. It doesn’t do anything new, but it’s a great time. Right now it’s my 2nd favourite animated film this (admittedly weak) year. B+

This trailer has no buzz, despite looking funny and being by the guy who made We Bare Bears (Daniel Chong). At this point it might be the case where the Pixar brand is detrimental (except for sequels). Am I wrong?

Saving for later.
I just watched this talk and I enjoyed it a lot! Full of interesting details about Otsuka and his influence on Takahata, Miyazaki and beyond. It was also a pleasant surprise to see @michaeljleader.bsky.social moderating the Q&A!

60 episodes of tv that shaped my love of animation. My 24th choice is Paranoia Agent (2004). Satoshi Kon's masterwork made up of sketches of ideas put together in one unsettling show. The episode "Happy Family Planning" (ep 8) is as darkly funny as he gets. youtu.be/HEa9ubxuVZ4?...

Science Saru don’t miss. While I think Dan Da Dan and Scott Pilgrim takes off hot higher highs, Sanda is consistent and sticks to its gonzo humour. Good entertainment.

60 episodes of t.v. that shaped my love of animation, in chronological order. My 21st choice is "Jurassic Bark" (2002, season 4, ep 7). I always thought Futurama was fine, good for the odd chuckle, so it was surprising when this episode ended with such a gut punch. youtu.be/AK3PWHxoT_E?...

I think this might be my animated show of this year. It’s also very depressing and dark so my recommendation comes with a warning, but I’m always looking for something that unique and deeply felt. Trigger warning for childhood trauma.
