Looks like a Mudblaster.
You pull the leg to shoot out the foam balls I think
Woke up almost 2 weeks ago to the sound of crashing as I accidentally punched my laptop off my bedside table in my sleep

The majority of my work is currently on that laptop so I haven't been able to work on the part of my writing I was focused on
(╯ಠ□ಠ)╯︵ ┻━┻

Luckily screen came in today. Soon™
I guess one quick mention is that even though these characters are intended for a book, character design is still pretty important to me.

Even among my human-like characters there's a range of body types and it's always a fun challenge to try to make a new face.
Xenith is actually the only character of this group to own a Mount.
This is his Aspedes named Iggy!

Aspedes are an herbivorous reptile often used as a maneuverable but quick mount.
Horses may sometimes mistake them for Wyverns but they use their claws for grasping branches and digging up tubers
Xenith can be very energetic(he bugs Ross a lot) and often takes himself a little too seriously. He has a lot of fun with his missions if he can, often taking material gathering quests.

He and Animela get along rather well (And maybe a bit of a crush)

(Art toyhou.se/Justsayhi)
Xenith is the youngest at the Mercenary guild(18) excluding Animela who joined at 16

He comes from the Archer family, which usually go into the Military, not Mercenary work but he firmly believes he's doing something more useful for his country by fulfilling these requests than participating in war
Keris is our resident Alchemist. While she is good with a knife, after her debts are clear, she takes on more work as the network's substance Analyst.

She doesn't exactly like Animela, but it's mostly because Ani tends to hold Harper's attention more than she'd like.

Keris is related to Ross through their Mother.
While Ross came to the guild first, she eventually followed to help him with their mother's debts.

She can be quite stubborn but quick to jump at opportunity. She doesn't care too much about money but does like shiny rocks.
He's actually quite skilled at assassination and information gathering but would still rather leave it behind.

When he firsts learn Animela has magic, he is absolutely terrified but comes to be one of her biggest supporters.

Ross is my grumpy half-dwarf. He originally comes from across the sea in pursuit of a lot of money due to debts his mother accrued before her death.

When he meets this goal he starts down the path of becoming a proper craftsman.
Claude is one of the "Big but Friendly" types. He's usually got stories or advice for his younger mercenaries, usually helping to manage Xenith's energy.

Animela is him because he reminds her of her uncle but he did spend a few summers in Nightshadel during his youth

(Art @soulwesson.bsky.social )
Claude is the oldest of the main Mercenary group.
He's big on fighting monsters and during his time there, wields dual axes.

He grew up with Evereth and Danielle (Some of the Carrie family that aren't Maxwell), and moved to the capital from Tirma shortly after they took over the family business.
Although she's quite well off financially, Harper hasn't left the guild because of what she learned about its darker side. She worries for her friends, aiming to keep a close eye.

She can be rowdy, but she is the default mom friend, making sure to check in on them.

(Art @soulwesson.bsky.social )
Harper is someone who's been at the Guild far longer than any of the others. Her parents were originally mercenaries there so she grew up in is

Rouxin is her best friend, meeting roughly a decade prior when he first showed up. They used to go out on missions together a lot before they met Keris.
Rouxin has been at the guild for some time due to his own goals. He's very justice oriented and tries to make light of hard situations with jokes.

As the impromptu leader among his friends, he's usually very friendly and believes that action speaks louder than words

(Art @soulwesson.bsky.social )
Rouxin is introduced in the first Chapter when Animela is assigned to him as a Mentor-Student by the Guild Master.

He's trained other mercenaries before so he's not unfamiliar with this situation, however, he and Animela get off on the wrong foot soon after.
They do eventually make up.
Wanting an excuse to talk about my Mercenaries from the Pureworld's first Main Cast.

I've already mentioned Harper & Keris but not much of the boys so I guess today will be a character summary day.
An important event to note (before I pass out) would be the Canid "Gathering".

Once every 9 years, representatives from many villages will gather together to exchange art, words and song.

Healers will always attend these in order to learn new techniques and confirm their next generation.
This usually isn't the case.
A wandering canid might be referred to as a "Journier".

There are many that visit between the villages, traveling far to share resources between them.

Their voices often serve to transmit important information and initiate trades between distant lands.
The Canid relationship with Civs is much worse.
Referred to in the lump term "Beastmen" or "Walking Animals" they're often killed for their hides which can be turned into incredibly durable leather.

In some places they might be killed under the assumption wanderers are after the Civ's livestock.
Their blood is also useful in making healing potions so there are breeding programs in place to maintain high mana "Dogs"

A Lupine with Majai characteristics is usually referred to as a "Dog-Ear".
Animela unfortunately hears this insult a lot.
Lupine are also popular due to their highly affectionate natures. They can be diligent, loyal helpers but due to this, their numbers have dwindled in the wild.

Captive bred Lupine are often called "Dogs". Genetic drift has caused a shift in their appearance from wild types.
It's no wonder the Majai, who treat Canids as Mana Beasts, will often take one as a familiar.

Vulpine are sometimes kept due to their tail splitting nature. A vulpine with a lot of tails is a good mana battery, and one that can transform is considered ideal.

Most countries require a permit to own
Unfortunately the Canids are a short-lived species.

They usually come into breeding age at 10 and frequently find their spouse before they are 12.

Their fertility rates are known to decline after they turn 25 and non-Ki cultivating individuals will typically only make it to 40.
Lupine on the otherhand will only mate to one other person.

It's not uncommon for Lupine to help take care of their sibling's children as one large unit because of multiple generations living in one home.

Btw, Canids only go into estrus once a year and usually have litters of 1-3.
