I met my first penguins in the Falkland Islands. At least 400 babies milled around while their parents were out catching dinner. While I sat as still as possible on a low cement bench, a group of 8 chicks surrounded me and proceeded to untie my shoelaces with their beaks. I had been accepted!

We're giving ourselves a new SubZero refrigerator, to be delivered today. Our celebration is emptying out the old one, and taking the magnets and years of accumulated pictures off the old door. It's bittersweet. Never thought I'd get so attached to an appliance that kept breaking down.
