One of my favourite shrines: St Albans' at St Alban's Cathedral, Hertfordshire. 2,000 fragments of the late-medieval shrine base were discovered in 1872 and used to reconstruct the shrine. A modern canopy was added and a relic (a piece of shoulder bone) installed in 2002.

St Govan's Chapel, on the Pembrokeshire coast, tucked attractively into the cliffs and accessed via a step flight of stone steps from the cliff top above. The chapel - mostly dating from the 13th century - was the one-time hermitage of a 6th-century holy man, St Govan.

Julian of Norwich's cell in St Julian's Church, Norwich. Julian's cell was discovered as a result of WWII bombing and reconstructed. Now a beautiful, tranquil and peaceful space for reflection and prayer.
