A song inspired by Marina Abramovic's 'Shoes for Departure' (which I learned about via Rebecca Solnit's brilliant book Wanderlust)... a great big pair of amethyst clogs, which, when viewed in a gallery, you are invited step into and see where they take you...

I’ve just finished reading Sarah Hall’s new novel Helm. It is a truly astonishing thing, this book, so vivid that you keep wondering how she could have been witness to all those events, from the Neolithic onwards. Then you remember she made them up. But how? 🧵1/5

Oops, I forgot about bluesky for a bit. But conveniently remembered because my album is now available on 12" eco-vinyl... and it's bandcamp Friday! (Bandcamp waives its fee and artists get a bigger slice of the pie...)... If you'd like a copy, please step this way: annemariesanderson.bandcamp.com

The Sky Today - track 8 on my album Old Light. I wrote it during a dry spell in March 2022, fretting about the unseasonable lack of rain. It’s usually an unpopular thing to audibly wish for rain…

Just a few weeks until I play my first ever gig in #KirkbyLonsdale, for St Mary's Events. I'll be playing songs from Old Light, as well as new and unreleased music including some piano songs on the venue's grand piano. Fancy!
Tickets are available here: www.ticketsource.co.uk/booking/sele...

Two lovely gigs coming up in May! 🌸🌼🌷🧚‍♀️

On 29th May I’ll be playing a short support set for Iona Lane at Brewery Arts Kendal

And on Friday 30th May I’ll be playing a full solo gig at St Marys in Kirkby Lonsdale - I’m especially looking forward to playing the venue’s grand piano for a few songs 🎹🥰

Following my cover of Linda Perhacs’ gorgeous song Morning Colors, here is another for my pantheon of Unsung Heroines; Sibylle Baier’s beguiling song “I lost something in the hills”.

Old Light is my incantation to help counter the endarkenment. It’s about learning from the past, paying attention, and letting hopeful glimmers help guide our way in a strange and uncertain world 🧡✨

Today my regular 6:30am dog outing was brightened up by (a) the sun; and (b) random guy across the street asking/telling me "do you know what birds are?? .... ancient dinosaurs!!"
"Yes"
"No they aaaare, just people haven't realised it yet!"
And off he went. I was actually braced for a conspiracy 😂

Yes! Svavar Knutur is a wise troubadour.

I loved touring by train for my Book Songs release tour back in 2018 - so much that I made a music video looking out of train windows... youtu.be/NQHk9M2EKVo?...
Though I didn't have the art of the streamlined luggage as well honed as Mr Knutur... 😅

#worldbookday - a good day to mention my Book Songs EP, released in 2018 and featuring songs inspired by books… listen wherever you get your music, & if you should feel moved to purchase, you’d be very welcome to peruse my Bandcamp shop… ☺️

The words #beautiful #february #evening hadn’t really come together this year until last night in Arnside - it was lovely to catch the last light over the estuary before my gig. Thanks to all who attended for a lovely warm reception 🧡✨

For anyone near #Arnside in #Cumbria - I'll be playing tomorrow evening at Arnside Sailing Club.
If that's the back o' beyond in relation to wherever you are, maybe #cockermouth #sheffield #stbees #kendal or #kirkbylonsdale might be closer?

My 2nd EP, Shadows & Sparks, is 10 years old this week. Yikes! I wish it didn't take so long to make recordings (that sound the way I want them to)... there's plenty in the works, but here's a song from the EP, played more recently than 10 years ago! youtu.be/VX60tv7FvjI?...

Thank you to everyone who came out to our (sold out!) show at Staveley Roundhouse on Friday! Lovely to see so many familiar faces in the audience. Here’s a favourite moment from my set - thank you all for singing with me! It’s a new (unreleased) song called Swans.

Wow, the gig tomorrow with Isabel Rumble at Staveley Roundhouse is sold out! Thank you to everyone who has bought advance tickets - it makes such a difference to us and the venue to know ahead of the gig that people are going to be there! 🥰
We can’t wait to play for you.

Want to know what I’ve been reading lately (apart from strangers’ shopping lists, found on walks…)?
Last month I added a new section in my email newsletters - “recent reading”, which I'm making a regular newsletter feature, so along with news of gigs, releases, etc, I'll be sharing book recs too 📚🎶✨
