“Derby equipped me with a degree that emphasizes practical knowledge, integrating extensive field excursions and hands-on geoscientific skills directly applicable in the mining and exploration sectors. The degree's focus on real-world skills, rather than being narrowly centred on academic niche topics, has been invaluable to my career. ”

While out in the field looking at rocks with @derbyuniearth.bsky.social 1st year students, it’s always nice to look at other things too. Here I think we have (correct if wrong) Marsh thistle, Common Lousewort, Heath milkwort, Round-leaved sundew, Heath bedstraw, Tormentil & Common cotton-grass.

Four days of geology so far with the Derby Uni @derbyuniearth.bsky.social 1st year students. Siliciclastics, carbonates, contact metamorphism, folded turbidities followed by an into to their mapping area. Sunshine in the Lake District!
