I’m kind of amazed at how 1976 felt like a drop off in terms of the passion level, but I do think it ended up being one of my least favorite years of the 70s despite a couple of truly magnificent classics.

It’s time to dive back into the glorious and epic decade that was the 1970s: the best of that cinematic art-form had to offer. Although 1970 is not often a year that gets discussed.

Kelly Reichardt’s work is admirable, and I love having films like hers added to the mix. Having said that though, I am not sure I’ve ever truly loved one of her films more than I actually admire them.

I love a few of Rob Reiner’s films dearly, but the one that holds a special place in my heart is STAND BY ME.

As a young boy, I felt like I was watching myself onscreen via Wil Wheaton’s Gordie. Even thinking about the film now, I’m getting misty.

I adore it.

Rob Reiner, as a filmmaker, had one of the hottest streaks of films any director has made. He also tackled everything from romcoms (When Harry Met Sally) to horror (Misery) to mockumentaries (This is Spinal Tap) to the whimsical romantic adventures (The Princess Bride).

His legacy is enormous.
