I accept some blame for not paying attention but seriously what’s the point in this sign if 2-car trains don’t stop anywhere near it? If they did, I wouldn’t have just missed one, because it would have been in my peripheral vision.

As a liberal, ID cards offend me. As a minority, ID cards TERRIFY me. ‘If you’ve nothing to hide, you’ve nothing to fear’ is all well and good when you’re in the group that gets to decide what’s to hide.

I saw a preview screening of #TheLongWalk this evening and let me tell you, when it comes out on Friday you should run, not walk, to your local cinema. I mean the book is still better but this is a better rendering than I thought possible. And of course, @markhamillofficial.bsky.social is superb 😍

Well done to @omniplexcinemas.bsky.social who are the only cinema in the English Midlands who have managed to screen On Swift Horses at a time when people aren’t working.
Frankly the showtimes from every other cinema that’s showing it around here are utterly shameful.

Looks likely that today is the last day that the mercury will rise above 20°C here for at least 7 months.
I’m not a ‘the hotter the better’ kinda gay, and I definitely melt for most of the summer, but I’m also not a fan of freezing my bits off and having to go out dressed like an Inuit!

You can probably tell as much from the trailer but #TheLifeOfChuck is a delightful film that I’d recommend to all. In a way, nothing really happens yet it ponders existence in a way that warms the heart, and it does so mostly without veering too far towards schmaltz. 4/5

It’s not the only factor, but no matter how you slice the figures, small boat xings MASSIVELY increased post-Brexit.
They could stop tomorrow but we lack the political will because the solution is ‘reopen legal routes’ and the antis don’t want to stop the boats, they want to stop asylum completely.
