I love these little tweaks of the Halloween candy panickers. Gonna post one a day through October.

Finished Clue 1 yesterday! #MysteryMusiKAL #westknits #knitting #MKAL2025 #MKALSpoilers
My work in progress for Clue 1 of the Mystery MusiKAL by knitwear designer Stephen West. The modular design features bold, curved shapes in shades of teal, deep blue, and magenta, knit in yarn from Les Garçons. The textured arcs form a rhythmic, wave-like pattern, echoing the musical theme of the mystery knit-along. The piece rests on a beige quilted background with subtle vertical lines. Spoiler card for the 2025 Mystery MusiKAL by knitwear designer Stephen West. Stephen is shown against a bright green background wearing a green patterned shirt and pink headphones, looking upward with a playful expression. He holds a small tan dog wrapped in a knitted garment and clutching neon green yarn. The words “MYSTERY MUSIKAL” appear in bold yellow and orange text above him, with the word “Spoiler” slanted diagonally to the right. In the bottom corner, the Westknits MKAL 2025 logo features colorful overlapping arcs in rainbow tones.

While in Montreal, we visited the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal and I remain obsessed by James Tissot’s “October.”

More in alt text…
I’m enthralled by the rich colors, how the figure seems to mysteriously summon the viewer to follow her into the woods, the curiosity of the subject of the book she carries, and of course the incredible details in the foliage and garments. I feel the glowing background seems to allude to enlightenment and perhaps liberation.

Descriptive text:
A richly detailed painting by James Tissot titled October. It depicts a woman dressed in elegant 19th-century autumn attire—deep purple skirts, a black embroidered jacket, and a wide black hat trimmed with feathers. She stands on a carpet of fallen leaves, surrounded by golden branches, turning back to glance over her shoulder with a composed, knowing expression. The ornate gold frame adds to the warmth and richness of the scene.

My immediate first thought!

The hair is thinning. My eyes are struggling. My hip hurts everyday. But today is my 50th birthday and I’m in a generally good place, all things considered, and that’s a gift. ☺️

And so is the cake I ordered for delivery! 😜
Me, sitting outside in a light gray hoodie, smiling at the camera with trees in the background. A calm, cozy moment as I welcome a milestone.

Can’t do anything without him judging me.
Here’s Apollo, my long-haired, gray, Maine Coon cat, sitting on a wooden chair in front of the window. He’s staring right at the camera with his fluffy mane and an expression full of judgment.

Hey #knitters! Who’s prepped and ready for this year’s #WestKnits #MKAL? I’m excited to use the @lesgarcons.bsky.social British 4-ply I picked out in Montreal last weekend. #MysteryMusiKAL
Four skeins of yarn from Les Garçons, a Montreal-based dyer, lined up side by side in bright natural light. The colors, from left to right, are warm red, deep navy blue, vibrant turquoise, and soft heather gray.

Hey people in my phone! Any recommendations on how I might fix the handle on my suitcase? This happened between airports, the rest of the suitcase is still in good shape.
The top of my hardsided suitcase. The handle is broken; having become separated from the body of the suitcase on the left side. The suitcase is dark grey and several vinyl travel stickers adorn the case.

Are you my mother? 🤣🤣😜🧐 That’s a serious flashback playlist!

I’m listening to Celine Dion!

Merci beaucoup. Je t'aime Montréal! Tu es magnifique!
I’m in Montreal, smiling and flashing a peace sign in front of the Olympic rings monument. I’m wearing glasses, a green fleece, and a black North Face jacket, with trees and city buildings behind me.

I don’t know why “proud” is there, other than my tater tot casserole is perfect! 👌

Poutine is a cousin to Tater Tot Casserole which is a convenience adaptation of Shepherd’s/Cottage Pie. And surely further linked to roast meat and root veg.

And I’m sure an even broader family tree history I don’t know.

Proud

Dear Ruffles Have Ridges, I’d like you to try to make a bernaise flavored chip, please and thank you. Any time it’s on a menu, I order it!

This is cruel. But this traffic-less ride to DCA gives one hope!
