"After my final shift for the week last Thursday, my boss pulled me aside and told me I'd been let go (termination without cause) with severance in lieu of a two week notice. That day job paid for all of my rent, plus most of my expenses. The severance I got will cover most of my rent + expenses for one month, but that's it. And it's a very difficult time to be looking for a job right now (my last big job hunt took almost three months for a minimum wage position). My family has offered to lend me a hand for expenses if I need it, and I'm going to be looking into options like EI and art grants to keep me afloat, but other then that, my monthly income is now almost entirely dependent on my artwork. And it's obviously a very difficult time to be trying to make a living as an independent artist right now." I know it's a pretty rough time (understatement) for a lot of folks right now, but if you're able to give some money to help me out while I'm trying to get through this rut, it'd be greatly appreciated. 1. I have a monthly ko-fi membership (Tip Jar) where you can get occasional private WIP updates for as low as 4$ CAD (about 3$ USD) per month! This is great if you don't have the change for a commission or shop items/shipping but want to pitch in a little bit to me! 2. I have an online shop on the same ko-fi! It has stickers, prints, pins, and keychains of my formline art. US shipping is available and prepaid duties (tariffs, derogatory) are factored into the applicable product shipping cost. Great if you're looking for stocking stuffers this holiday season! 3. I take custom commissions for formline art from time to time! The reason I list this last is because comms take the most physical and mental strain of all these options, and the last thing I want to do is burn myself out when I'm already struggling. TWO-SPIRIT (a single leaf grows from their finger): yes WASKWANE: goodness little two-spirit, that is a lot! those are two very important aspects of your identity in conflict with one another. i don't know if there's anyone who can say which decision is the right one... TWO-SPIRIT: so then what do i do? WASKWANE: well, i have to ask the obvious: have you tried reaching out to an elder yet? [Waskwane's stomach grumbles "hungryyy"] TWO-SPIRIT: well... normally i would, but i've had both good and bad experiences broaching this topic with them. some elders really understand, and soe don't. i do want to sit down with one eventually, but i don't think i' ready yet. WASKWANE: what about a two-spirit elder? wouldn't they be most equipped to help put things into perspective for you? TWO-SPIRIT: ah! gosh you're totally right! and i do know someone, but... they left to help indigenous youth in the city, and are hard to ake contact with. WASKWANE (Stomach continues to grumble "hungryyy"): but not impossible! TWO-SPIRIT: well, no, not impossible WASKWANE (finding an apple tree ad proceeding to pick the fruit): they'd probably really like it if you called. but you know, even if some elders don't understand your questions about gender identity... having them ear can still help TWO-SPIRIT: oh? IMAGE: Waskwane climbs the apple tree, picking fruits and passing them to Two-Spirit WASKWANE: being with them while they navigate their own spiritual journey... can really help you to make sense of yours... without having to say anything. A six-panel comic. In panel 1, text says "People often wonder, why don't I see baby pigeons? Here's where they're hiding:" and there's an egg with an arrow pointing to a question mark, then an arrow pointing to an adult pigeon. Panel 2 says "Pigeons don't nest in trees. They nest in sheltered spaces on or in buildings. This keeps their babies safe from weather and predators." There's a pigeon nesting in a sheltered cavity in the side of a building. Panel 3 says "The hidden babies look like this: like moldy potatoes, but cute" and there are two baby pigeons looking, well, like moldy pink and gray potatoes with yellow fuzz. Panel 4 says "Older baby pigeons hide in plain sight.
