As a "young" (time in the field not age) archaeologist, I gave my first guest lecture today on using Small Uncrewed Aircraft System (sUAS) in Archaeology. It was fun. I am still not super confident giving presentations though. I guess at some point I will work through that.

Movie sets. Material objects to portray fictitious worlds in a digital form to the public. The monumental sets made for film remain as tourist sites. What messages continue for the public long after the images disappear from the screen? #archaeology #pseudoarchaeology #heritage #historicpreservation

1. My thesis project, the "Old LSU Site", aka the original LSU campus.
2. The archaeology of institutional life. I guess more specifically, the archaeology of early American higher education.
Blue sky academics and professional archaeologists, let's get to know each other! Quote this and tell me: 1) a project you're working on & 2) an odd idea/theory you aren't but keep thinking about.

1) the archaeology of moonshine in west KY/TN.
2) vernacular style grave markers in west KY/TN.

1) fiercely debunking pseudoarchaeological claims of a Phoenician presence in Québec
2) is it spelled Acheulean or Acheulian?

Hey all, I guess it's customary to do an introduction post. So here's mine.

My name is Conan and I am working on my MA in Anthropology at Louisiana State University. Before I decided to go back to school to get my BA, I had a previous life doing something completely different.

When the State Archaeologist asks for help, I have to answer. This is my second time on this site excavating test units. This is a very interesting site that is a 1300-1600 CE shell midden but there is likely an earlier, probably CE 0-500 occupation of the terrace as well.
