Also keep in mind that LGBTQ representation in places like NYC and SF are more VISIBLE because the risks of showing up are lower, but we’re everywhere. Most midwestern queers you’ve seen, you never knew were queer because they don’t want the visibility where they are.

You can know right from wrong and still not grapple with how much bad info you started out with, and that will lead someone to…less good decisions, even if they’re trying to conscientiously do what they see as the right thing.

Real and at least partially valid; exactly as you said, they can’t easily place him on that complicated landscape. But all I ultimately meant to say was that he’ll improve NYC for them too, and they’ll get to see a MUCH clearer picture of where he stands over the next four years to build trust with.

Hey, that’s my governor, and uh…no his track record is ACTUALLY pretty abysmal, enough that I think he’ll have a hard time making it through the primaries. He’s been cozying up to right wing figures on his podcast, and has even refused to sign slam-dunk progressive laws passed by both houses.

I’m not sure I follow? It feels to me like there’s a lot of paranoia because of his Palestine stance, and my point is he’ll try to do a good job for concerned Jewish voters regardless. But I’m not a New Yorker, just a guy that’s really excited. Am I holding something here the wrong way round?

Yeah I was trying to say, initially, that among white voters, he had stronger support among women. You are correct that they were not the strongest gender/ethnic group overall, but it was how the gender lines were drawn for each ethnic group that I found most interesting there.

If you see the cross tab where gender and race are both split out, among white voters, women outperformed men. Because men went stronger in every other ethnic group, it balances out when you reduce it down to JUST gender. Young voters in general skewed hard for him across the board, too.

Yeah that dropped my jaw pretty good, too, but it does work out. And this is not to say that any part of the coalition was unnecessary, but our layer of the victory cake is EXACTLY the size of the margin of victory. Makes the notes on that one REALLY easy to take.
