#onthisday in 1874 the Towns of Brighton and West Roxbury and the City of Charlestown were annexed into Boston! Here is a city council order from 1872 requesting that the Mayor appoint a commission to examine annexation.

Today is William Lloyd Garrison's birthday! He was born December 10, 1805 in Newburyport, MA. Garrison was a journalist, abolitionist, and supporter of women's suffrage. He co-founded the anti-slavery newspaper The Liberator, which he published in Boston from 1831-1865.
