When someone hasn't done the interior work to question their base instincts and emotions, every time they feel disgust, they believe that thing HAS to be immoral. When they feel threatened, that thing HAS to be a threat etc.

America has NEVER been what it was supposed to be. Its principles failed even before it began. And failed again, and again, throughout 250 years. Now they have utterly failed.

But those principles — however poorly realized — are STILL ADMIRABLE.

They are worth fighting for.
