How I manage comms while disabled/chronically ill

Got asked this on tellonym and thought I'd share in case it helps other artists 💕

Tellonym screenshot. "void.debris 6 minutes ago how do you manage commission burnout while dealing with health issues and still surviving I definitely do struggle with this. But the things that help me most with managing it are: 1) All my comms have the max due date VGen allows (2yrs). It says everywhere on my comms that they don't actually take 2 years, but this allows me to work around my disabilities and chronic illness without stress 2) I only take payment for work completed. My down payment is only $1 (bc VGen requires a down payment). This way if something happens and I need to cancel comms I'm not dealing with massive refunds. For smaller comms, I'll take payment upon completion (before I send the file). For larger ones, I'll take payment upon completion of each step (sketch, line, color, etc). Thus, all payments are non-refundable". Tellonym screenshot. "void.debris 2m I accidentally hit send! 3) All my comms are skeb-style by default. This means no client communication and no WIPs/revisions. I have an add-on for non-skeb, but basically this helps prevent more drain on my limited resources mentally/physically 4) I have a combination of really easy and more complex comms. When I'm having a hard time, only the easy ones open 5) YCHs. They significantly help limit the work and mental capacity needed for each comm show less Reply void.debris just now 6) I use a social media scheduler (Buffer) for my posts, and try to include as many steps of each project as possible for separate posts (sketch, line, color, render). (No I don't always remember to do this Imao). This helps keep my account active and keep art going up even when I need a break. I also schedule text posts to help keep activity in between art ones Reply".
