Words do matter. They can stoke violence just as much as they can inspire unity and I'm tired of pretending otherwise.

This disconnect we have as a society that words don’t equal violence is bugging me and I finally had the Sunday morning coffee thoughts to put it into words why.

Words can equal violence. Words can and often do:
– Hurt and frighten normal, everyday people just living their lives
– Become policies or laws that remove the autonomy and rights of people
– Inspire someone to commit violence against perceived ‘others’ or enemies

In this same vein, words also can:
– Heal and unite people after national tragedies
– Help strike down draconian policies (Jim Crow laws, voting rights, etc.)
– Inspire people to be better versions of themselves

And I’m tired of people pretending that words are spoken into some kind of shapeless void and apparently have zero bearing on viewpoints people adopt or actions they end up taking. If that’s the case, why use words at all? Do we all just aimlessly bump around regardless of words spoken into our Zeitgeist and occasionally commit violence on an unrelated whim?

No.

Words do matter and they can lead to violence, and I’m just done entertaining chuds who try to pretend otherwise.

Oracle’s mandatory glowy eyes look so embarrassingly goofy on void elves that I added glasses and turned her into the cringe anime glasses character trope for a better aesthetic.

As a student of history, turns out I didn’t need to waste all that time learning German to better understand how a certain mustached man rose to power in Germany. I could have just patiently waited till I hit my 30s for the English Dub (US) release.

…Or should I say soft reboot?
