Today's rain couldn't stop Higley Education Association members from getting out the vote for their override!

A YES vote on the Higley override means:

🍎 Higher pay to attract & retain educators & keep class sizes small.
🎨 $ for specials like art, music, library & PE.
🏫 Safe & secure campuses.

Educators worked hard to elect Adelita, and we need her fighting for us. Call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and tell your representatives to demand that Adelita be sworn in now! 2/

@adelitaforcongress.bsky.social was elected more than two weeks ago, but Republican leadership is still blocking her from being sworn in — leaving more than 800,000 Southern Arizonans without a voice in Congress during the shutdown. 1/

As a social studies teacher, AEA President Marisol Garcia understands exactly how government shutdowns happen — and who they hurt the most.

Earlier today, AEA stood alongside statewide leaders and labor partners to protect health care and push for an end to the gridlock hurting our families. WATCH:

For generations, Native communities have fought to give their children the best despite neglect and underfunding from those in power.

This great news is just the start of the recognition they deserve. 🌟

We’re proud of our union siblings in Chinle and across Tribal lands for leading the way.

Bonds and overrides are about more than politics — they’re about investing in schools that students & educators deserve.

With more $$, districts can lower class sizes, expand kindergarten & preschool & raise salaries.

Students can't learn when they are afraid to attend school.

I was incredibly moved to hear from leaders in Roosevelt School District about keeping students and families safe and secure in the face of ICE abductions. Their care and courage are a model for communities facing this across the country.

I was lucky to witness the work of Creighton District's Family Resource Center today. They provide food, clothes, baby supplies, pre-K classes, adult education, and more, all for free—including "community baby showers" where expectant parents receive handmade blankets, toys, and some joy.
