The trolls love to say "Don't listen to her about nutrition - you might end up looking like her." But I'm not telling you to eat like me (that would be silly; you're not me & I don't know enough about you)

But as instructional as I get is to say -- be wary of instructional one size fits all advice.

While it is often seen as unhealthy, we actually do need to incorporate fats into our diet! A fun fact I learned about fat is that it is actually used to insulate nerve fibers (Myelin is about 70-80% fat by weight) which ensures that neurons can fire signals quickly. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This is a great point. So many diets feel scientific, but they are just a trend that hasn't even been properly researched. People have become too comfortable using people's insecurities to promise that their new diet will get them what they want. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
we act like most diets are invented in labs, but they’re mostly invented in marketing meetings.

it’s important to remember that every mass marketed diet was invented by a normal human being (who wanted to sell you a diet).

One that thing that really stood out to me is checking the validity of nutrition articles. I realized that a lot of articles claim that weird food trends are healthy and use scientific language to hide that the evidence they use is weak or outdated. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I am a Molecular Biology Major graduating in the spring (yay). Growing up in the Philippines has showed me how impactful malnutrition is in growth. I want to understand how gut health really works. Healthy eating = Balance. My favorite food is anything salmon. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
