I've been so busy moving that I've barely even looked at social media, but I'm alive, and doing fairly well now that I'm settled in. I just finished hanging up the art and decor for my bedroom, I'm very happy with how it turned out.

But also: you'd be surprised, some people do take criticism well. I've had some of the best conversations with people who criticized me, and sometimes one or the other (or both) learns something new that reframes the other person.

I think that's what my therapist calls vulnerability? Maybe?

I think you can be authentic while not saying everything that's on your mind.

The way I deal with the dissonance is reminding myself that other people's lives are not mine to share my uninvited opinions on.

I try to share the thoughts about things I like and enjoy instead of the things I don't.

Finally got some good news today - they've confirmed that contractors will be allowed to keep working during the shutdown, which helps. If they lay off half of the feds though? That won't help

He wasn't reeeeally, a reduction in force is much different than deferred retirement and laying off provisional workers (and all of the ones I work with ended up staying around). So far the only attrition in my department has been retirements/voluntary "fork in the road" departures
